I thought we were going to get an AWD version... Will it only come in Alltrack guise?

Why does it need AWD?

ETA: Get a Subaru.

its true. Without a diesel there is no reason to buy one over a subi.

But German engineering is the best engineering! My mother’s cousin’s uncle’s friend’s dog’s brother’s owner’s son bought an old Mercedes, and it has 10 1/2 billion miles on it and has only used one set of spark plugs and only needed one quart of oil added to it in order to keep it running! It’s super reliable.

Rumor has it it’ll be a 2016 release for MY2017 as a Golf Sportwagen Alltrack. But that was from a report back in november 2014.

Head gaskets come to mind... and even with the 1.8 motor, it’ll still get better gas mileage (and be faster) than an outback...

head gaskets on an ej are a walk in the park compared to VW issues. Besides, they are rolling out the FB anyway on the Subi’s so thats done.

Just outta curiosity... what vw issues make ej head gaskets a walk in the park? As a long-time vw owner, and someone who’s worked at a subi dealership and personally seen folks get handed the estimate for their head gasket repair, I’m curious as to what those vw issues are..

Off hand, I can think back to the complete control arm rebuilt my wifes passat needed 2x in its 120 mile life and the $10,000 warranty claim on my 2012 sportwagen tdi for exploded hpfp (i didn’t pay) and the sludge issue in the old 1.8t, and the numerous electrical gremlins that are impossible to extricate, and the smell that is permanently in my sportwagen from the epoxy they used on the HVAC (even after 40,000 miles). The EJ HG issue happens 1 time and its not that bad a do it yourself job and once you’ve done it they will run forever. No subies have their problems too, they chew through front CV’s and sway bar links and such, but on the whole...the subi is the more reliable car BY FAR.

Yeah, I’ll concede that vw’s had some issues at the turn of the century... and that gen passats and the 1.8’s bore the brunt of those issues... But that’s pretty cool that vw did the right thing regarding your hpfp... But, at the end of the day, I’m a vw fanboi, so fuck you.
